The 1961 Disney adaptation of this story, called One Hundred and One Dalmatians, about puppies being kidnapped so they can be turned into coats was one of the first movies that I remember seeing as a child. I also had the book that inspired the movie and read it around age eight or nine.
The one thing that I remember most is how terrified I was for the well-being of all the dogs. I was worried that Cruella DeVille would win in the end and the poor little dogs wouldn’t survive. Fortunately, I need not have worried, they were saved and the owners that started out with just a handful of puppies born to Pongo and Purdita suddenly had far more to care for! Although the over-thinker in me always hoped that the humans would seek out the owners of all the extra Dalmatian puppies and send them home.

QUALITY OF THE 101 DALMATIANS CANVAS MINI BACKPACK
Any time I buy a fandom bag I hope that it will last. Sure, it might be pretty to look at, but if it falls apart then there’s no point in spending my money on it.
Fortunately, the material for this bag is thick and feels very well made. Loungefly is known for making quality bags and this looks to be no exception.
DESIGN AND COLOR
This doesn’t have 101 dalmatians on it, but it does have a fair amount. There are adorable puppy faces embroidered on the front and both sides. There are actually only two faces but they are repeated all over the bag.
The color of the bag is grey. The puppies are, of course, black and white, and one puppy has a blue collar while the other one has a red collar. All collars have gold tags hanging from them.
TEXTURE
This is made of a woven canvas fabric so the texture feels like thick cotton or linen. It’s not smooth like most Loungefly products due to the nature of the material, but it isn’t rough. The picture below gives you an idea of how this feels.
MATERIAL
I’m not sure what the material is, but it’s possible that it’s cotton since that’s what canvas is usually made from, or a cotton blend with manmade materials.
The only thing that could be a potential issue is that the fabric could be more prone to getting dirty than the manmade material usually found on Loungefly mini backpacks. The good news is that the grey color should do a good job of hiding dirt.
STITCHING FOR THE 101 DALMATIANS BACKPACK
The stitching for this is sturdy and looks like it will last a long time. The thread used is the same grey as the bag.
HANDLES / STRAPS
There are two handles on top that you can use to carry this bag. They are padded for comfortable handling, one is attached to the front, and the other is attached to the back.
On the back are two straps to use when you want to wear this as a backpack. The straps are the same material and color as the handles and are adjustable to fit most people.
The color for both the straps and handles are the same grey as the rest of the bag, which is rather unusual for Loungefly products. Typically, some aspects of the straps are a different color but I rather like how this looks.
The two top handles might bother some people, and this includes me. I don’t want my backpacks to have a handle in the front of the bag because I think it looks silly when worn as a backpack, but not everyone feels this way.
EXTERNAL POCKETS
There is a zippered pocket on the front. It is smaller than most other front pockets found on Loungefly bags, but it is just the right size for things like sunglasses, keys, a small wallet, hand sanitizer, and lip balm.
ZIPPERS
There are three zippers: one on the front pocket and two on top. They all have silver-toned zipper pulls, and there are two pulls on the opening to the bag. This allows you to choose where you want the zipper to close. Left, right, or middle, it’s up to you.
DECORATIVE ITEMS
There are no decorative items, such as a zipper pull or charms.
OPENING AND BOTTOM
The zipper is located in the middle of the bag’s sides and top, which means the bag opens right in the middle. This allows you to pull open both sides equally to get to the contents within.
The bottom is made of the same canvas as the rest of the backpack and is the same color gray.
LINING AND INTERNAL POCKETS
The material lining the inside of this 101 Dalmatians mini backpack perfectly matches the theme of the bag. It’s black with white polka dots all over it, just like dalmatian puppies.
There are two internal pockets, one on each side. The main pocket zips closed and is perfect for holding things in it that you don’t want to accidentally fall out of the pocket, which can sometimes happen to me if I toss my bag into my car and it tumbles to the floor.
The other side has a slip pocket that stays open. It is good for things like sunglasses if you don’t want to keep them in the external pocket, extra cash, pens, and medicine.
DIMENSIONS AND SIZE
This measures approximately 9″W x 11″H x 5″D.
This is an average-sized mini backpack, which means you can fit most water bottles, umbrellas that telescope closed, many book sizes, cell phones, and smaller eReaders inside, as well as items that are even smaller.
CAN THIS FIT IN A THEME PARK LOCKER?
If you never plan on going to a theme park with this bag then you can ignore this. However, fandom bags are very popular at places like Disney and Universal Studios. If you even plan on going to a theme park with your bag then you probably want to make sure that it will fit inside their lockers.
If you decide to take this mini backpack to a theme park then I’m happy to tell you that, yes, this can fit inside just about all theme park lockers.

SUMMARY
I think this is a cute mini backpack but I’m not crazy about the handles on top. That’s my only complaint about how this was created. Otherwise, I like the size and design. Actually, I love that there are a total of three pockets. Most Loungefly bags have just one or two, so the third pocket is like a bonus and will help users stay organized.
This is great for people of all ages and can be used as an everyday purse, for a trip to the grocery store, or while visiting one of the Disney theme parks.
