I have no shortage of fandom purses, wallets, and mini backpacks, and I rotate which ones I use on a regular basis. I chose any given bag depending on where I’m going or what mood I’m in. Wearing them has been no problem for me, but displaying them has been.
My lack of creativity means that my fandom bags are kept on shelves in my closet, so I’ve been wondering about more visually appealing ways to show them off. Perhaps the most obvious method is to use hooks, and what you will see here are ways that some people are doing exactly that in their homes.
My quest to find better display options started a few weeks ago. I had walked into my closet and looked at the shelves where my mini backpacks, purses, and wallets are kept. This works perfectly fine for me, but it’s also rather boring. That was the first time that it occurred to me that there might be a better way. Or, if not better, then at least a way that is nicer to look at.
I belong to a Harry Potter group and created a post asking how other people display their bags. My post received several really good responses, as I suspected that it would. If you are looking for ideas then what you see on this page should be helpful to you.
There are many different kinds of hooks that you can use. Some need to be screwed into the wall while others use a double-sided adhesive that can be easily removed. If you use the latter, then be sure to check the weight capacity of the adhesive so that it doesn’t fall off the wall when you hang your bag on it. Although, to be honest, the things that you see hanging in the pictures below are probably around one or two pounds, so you wouldn’t need a super-strong option if that’s what yours also weigh.
Perhaps the best reason to use this display method is because it will help protect your bags from harm. It also lets you enjoy looking at your purchases. Many of the bags that I’ve seen are definitely worthy of being shown, like small works of art, instead of kept in a closet like mine are.
SINGLE BAG ON A HOOK
This is the easiest way to show off one of your favorite fandom bags. As you can see, it is just a single hook and a single Hogwarts mini backpack. The shoulder straps are hanging down but you could also use something as simple as a twist tie to hide them behind the back of the backpack if you didn’t want to see them.
THREE BAGS ON HOOKS
Here you can see three different bags on display. They include two purses, one is of all seven Horcruxes from the Harry Potter series and the other one is the Howler that Ron Weasley received from his mother, and a black owl mini backpack that I also have and love.
I could be wrong, but the hooks look like they are in the shape of an elephant (in the middle) and two rhinoceroses (on the sides). They are adorable!
MANY BAGS ON HOOKS
This is an example of a woman who decided to display her entire collection of mini backpacks in her bedroom. She has a lovely collection of many fandoms, including Star Wars, Alice in Wonderland, Minnie Mouse, Jurassic Park, the Avengers, and Deadpool.
MINI BACKPACK WITH A SCARF
I love all of the ideas shared here, but this one is my favorite. This is an example of how you can accessorize the hook and bag. In this case, a Gryffindor scarf has been hung over a Gryffindor mini backpack. The colors compliment each other, as do the two items.
I’m not at all creative with things like this so it would have never occurred to me to pair my Ravenclaw scarf with my Ravenclaw mini backpack, but now I’m thinking about how I can do exactly that.
So there you have it, several real-world examples of how you can display your own purses and mini backpacks. Which idea did you like best? Please tell me in the comments below.
