Two days ago I wrote about how a friend of mine went to a Vera Bradley outlet store and found some Harry Potter bags on clearance there. This made me wonder if the two outlets that are about an hour from where I live might also have some fandom bags at discounted prices, so I took a trip to both of them. What I found was rather exciting.
It honestly never occurred to me to go to an outlet store for these kinds of purses because I know that licensed merchandise such as Harry Potter is pretty much always exempt from discounts. At least, this is true on websites, which is why I never thought to go to one of an outlet store. Now I realize that I’ve been missing out on potential deals.
Vera Bradley is licensed to sell products for Disney, Harry Potter, and Peanuts, but the only things that I found in their discount stores were from two of their Harry Potter lines. I confess that I was hoping to find Disney and Peanuts, too, but I was still happy with what I did find.
VERA BRADLEY OUTLET STORE #1
The first store that I went to had a larger selection than the store my friend had gone to in another city. There were items from the Home To Hogwarts and the Herbology lines, which were originally released in 2020 (Home To Hogwarts) and early 2021 (Herbology). They were displayed on shelves, with one shelf section for each of these two lines.
There was a wide variety of items that were all 50% off the retail price, which is a much better price than you will find on their website, if you can even find any of these products there. Almost everything that I saw is no longer on their site because they sold out of them. FYI, the stores were having a holiday sale of and additional 30% off prices but the Harry Potter lines were exempt from this.
I found totes, purses, backpacks, cosmetic bags, sling backpacks, crossbody bags, bag charms, and a few other items, such as blankets and ID pouches with lanyards.

VERA BRADLEY OUTLET STORE #2
After I was done at the first store I got back into my car and drove another 20 minutes to the other one in my general area. This store had their items displayed on a table instead of shelves. There was a bit less than at the first store but there were a few different items.
Although I say there were different items, you might notice that many are the same but in different houses. There are four houses in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry: Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff. Vera Bradley’s first line of Harry Potter products included bags that represented all four of these houses, and some of their products were in houses that the first store didn’t have.
I didn’t take a picture of it, but the second store also had items from Vera Bradley’s third line, called Forbidden Forest, but those were not on clearance. You’d pay full price, just like you would on their website for any of those items, and they didn’t have anything that is already sold out online.
DOONEY & BOURKE OUTLET STORE
Lastly, I went to a Dooney & Bourke outlet store (I had also visited a Couch outlet store but they didn’t have any of their Disney items). This is a company that sells high-end purses and they are licensed to sell Disney products. I was a bit surprised to see that they had a handful of purses there, and they were being sold for 30% off the retail price. This is what I found:
I learned a lesson this day, which is that even officially licensed purses and bags are sometimes sold at discounts. This is something that I doubted happened just a few days ago. If you are within driving distance of an outlet store then it might be worth your time to visit it to see if they are selling anything that you can’t live without at a great price!
