One of Walt Disney’s most beloved classics is Fantasia, his 1940 film. It was a collection of animated stories told with music. If you ask multiple people to tell you just one of the eight stories told in the movie, chances are most people will best remember the segment about Mickey Mouse as he portrayed the Sorcerer’s Apprentice.
This tells the tale of an apprentice who wanted to do more magic than he had been trained to do, instead of the boring chores he’d been tasked with. The apprentice grew tired of carrying buckets of water and decided to enchant a broom to do the work for him. Things started out well but quickly descended into chaos that nearly destroyed the Sorcerer’s home.
This shoulder or crossbody purse pays tribute to Mickey’s magic broom in a very clever way, including tassels that look like brooms.

DESIGN AND COLOR OF THE BROOM FANTASIA PURSE
The shape of this bag is based on the wooden bucket that Apprentice Mickey had to carry that was full of water. As this implies, it is round instead of square or rectangular, although it’s more of an oval than a circle.
The color is light brown and the only other color, aside from the charms and metal grommets, is yellow on the tassels.
This is what the back looks like. It looks basically like the front but without the drawstring tassel, but it also has the Cakeworthy metal tag in the lower part of the bag.
As you can see, the metal tag has a pale gold-tone to it.
MATERIAL, TEXTURE, AND STITCHING
This purse is made from polyurethane on the outside, which is all man-made. The material is soft to the touch, but it also has a grainy appearance to it that looks like leather.
There is minimal stitching, and it uses brown thread that matches the rest of the bag. Pretty much the only place where you can even see the stitching is on the very top and on the strap.
HANDLES / STRAPS
The strap has buckles to allow users to adjust it. It can be extended to a total of 54″, which gives users plenty of length so it can be used as a crossbody or a shoulder purse. The strap is the same material and color as the rest of the bag.
EXTERNAL POCKETS
There are no external pockets but don’t worry, there are some on the inside and you’ll see that in just a bit.
ZIPPERS AND DECORATIVE ITEMS
This includes two removable metal charms and they are perfect! One is of an enchanted broom that is walking on its straw “feet” and carrying two buckets filled with water.
The other one is of Mickey Mouse’s head and he has the Sorcerer’s hat on his head.
There is a third decorative item, and it is a clever use of the drawstring used to open and close the opening of the bag. The end of each drawstring has yellow tassels and they look like two of Mickey’s walking brooms. I love this!
OPENING AND BOTTOM
This bag opens by loosening the drawstrings and opening the magnetic snap that is found on the inside, at the top. You can see part of the magnet in this picture.
I am personally not a fan of this kind of opening because I fear that it’s easier for pick-pockets to reach inside. If I had this purse, then I wouldn’t use it if I was going to an area known for having pick-pockets. But otherwise, I’d feel safe using it. Keep in mind that this is my preference and that I am a major overthinker who can easily imagine danger in situations that don’t have any.
The bottom of the bag is the same color as the rest of the purse, and it is flat. The flat bottom makes it very easy for users to set this on surfaces without it falling over.
LINING AND INTERNAL POCKETS
The inside is lined with a gorgeous blue material that has repeating images of the two charms: Mickey’s had and the magical broom carrying buckets of water. This is reminiscent of the repeated actions of the enchanted broom that continues to fill a cauldron with water and doesn’t stop even when it begins to flood the room.
The inside has several pockets, which means that users have ways of keeping the inside of this bag organized, instead of everything getting jumbled up together. I am a fan of pockets and organizational options so I appreciate that these were included.
The one seen in the picture below is a zippered pocket.
There is also a slip pocket on the other side, which allows you to easily access whatever is put inside, like car keys or sunglasses.
DIMENSIONS AND SIZE
The dimensions for this bag are 10 1/2″ H x 9 1/2″ W x 7″ D.
This is a nice-sized bag that will fit just commonly used items, such as a wallet, water bottle, hand sanitizer, a cell phone, and a book.
CAN THIS BAG FIT IN A THEME PARK LOCKER?
If you never plan on going to a theme park with this bag then you can ignore this. However, fandom bags are very popular at places like Disney and Universal Studios. If you even plan on going to a theme park with your bag then you probably want to make sure that it will fit inside their lockers.
This will fit inside a locker, although the round shape might require users to flatten or otherwise adjust the bag to fit properly.
CARING FOR THE BROOM BUCKET BAG

Cakeworthy products that are made from man-made materials and look like faux leather are easy to keep clean. All you need to do is wipe down the outside with a clean, soft, damp rag that has been wetted with soapy water. Use a small amount of a mild detergent like Dawn or liquid soap. Clean any stains, then wipe down the exterior of the bag with a dry, clean cloth. Or, you can also use alcohol-free baby wipes to clean the bag, which is even easier.
